Gamers For Giving 2011

Gamers For Giving 2011 is a non-profit video game event that supports the Gamers Outreach Foundation. This organization supplies donated video games to military troops and also works within area hospitals to supply mobile gaming units for patients in need.

This was the second year Jet Set Studio attended the Michigan event to help manage this neat tournament that supports such a great cause. We connected with our affiliates, Focus Fire, who brought the noise with more gaming stations and a professional live stream.

Two weeks after The Iowa Pro Gaming Challenge, we again connected with Focus Fire at Combo Breaker 2011. This video game event was hosted by Games N Go in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With multiple divisions for the fighting game genre and two divisions for Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops, this was an action packed event!

Combo Breaker 2011 was a decent video game tournament, but the big story was how we took the Focus Fire Justin.TV Channel, which was initially blown up at TIPGC 2011 (134,000+ viewers), to a staggering 836,000+ viewers! MLG Dallas was happening at the same time, but during this two day video game event in Minnesota, these traffic numbers solidified our team's streaming capabilities. It was amazing to see 6,000+ viewers watching the stream at a single time, which also really added to the excitement for players who were competing for such a large online audience!

The Big Surprise

This video game event, hosted in Des Moines, Iowa on 3.19.2011, was amazing. More than 45 teams competed in 4v4 Halo: Reach and 4v4 Call of Duty: Black Ops, for $7,500+ in cash and prizes. 400+ attendees represented more than 15 different states, but the biggest number is how many viewers we shared this gaming event with on the popular live streaming website, Justin.TV.

Our internal goal was 5,000 viewers for this professional live stream broadcast. We ended up with over 134,000+ viewers, who enjoyed this single day video game event from all around the world!

MLG Dallas 2010 was quite a trip!

Along with being the 2010 MLG national championship for Halo 3, Tekken 6, Starcraft 2, Super Smash Brothers, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Jet Set Studio invited friends from www.GatheringofGamers.com to the JSS Hospitality Suite for even more gaming and the hottest parties all weekend.

This was the third year in a row, that the GoG video game community was represented at E3 in LA! This epic video game convention brings game developers, media, and industry leaders together, as they share new technology, new game titles, and almost anything you could imagine with video gaming. It's truly the mecca of what's coming next in gaming!

Of course there were TONS of games and new technology at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, but motion controls such as Xbox 360 Kinect and PS3 Move, 3D Gaming, Halo Reach, Gears of War 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Stars Wars: Old Republic, and a new Zelda game were some of the big things everyone was talking about.

Ann Arbor, Michigan was the site for Gamers For Giving 2010. This video game tournament is an annual event that supports the Gamers Outreach Foundation. This non-profit organization works to provide unique gaming opportunities in area hospitals (see below) and also connects troops overseas, with donated video games.

Overall, the 3rd annual Gamers For Giving was a total success. The Briarwood Mall was a neat venue and the tournament went off without a hitch. A ton of money was raised for charity, while gamers across the region enjoyed a top-notch video game event.

We look forward to next year's GFG tournament, but we're also excited to have Zach and his GOF team join us for The 2011 Iowa Pro Gaming Challenge! With their 32 gaming stations, we'll have access to a MUCH larger event here in Iowa. With so much video game event and tournament experience, The Iowa Pro Gaming Challenge was the culmination of many events Jet Set Studio has hosted and attended around the country. This was our video game community set into action!

This video game tournament was conceptualized and then developed in less than 3 months, so we knew it was going to be challenging going in, but we wanted to solidify the plan to share at the GoG 5,000 Party earlier this year. This aggressive timeline however, did not stop us from connecting with numerous sponsoring organizations and generating a nice marketing buzz surrounding the event.

The weekend event was held in downtown Des Moines, Iowa on March 13-14, 2010. TIPGC offered 4v4 Halo 3 and 4v4 Modern Warfare 2 game divisions, while boasting over $5,000 is cash and prizes!

Even with numerous challenges that we hurdled, this first year event was a total success. 27 teams competed throughout the weekend and teams represented over 12 different states around the country! This truly was an exciting beginning to a neat event for gaming in the Midwest.

This week our company once again connected with the mothership. We worked with Microsoft to enhance their sponsored hospitality suite, with a neat retro-flavored video gaming element.

This one night video game event in Baltimore, Maryland, was a part of the Gartner Portals, Content, & Collaboration Summit 2010. Microsoft was at the event to share a ton of insight on the powerful collaboration platform for the enterprise and the web, SharePoint 2010. It was neat to not only learn more about this powerful SharePoint tool and work along side the fine folks from Microsoft, but to also help enhance their event with our video game event management service.

Along with food, cocktails, and good conversation; we brought the party attendees back in time as we highlighted Pac-Man, Galaga, and other retro arcade games on two fun gaming stations. We utilized the Xbox 360, but added a spin to the controllers, by using the Xbox360 Fighting Stick EX 2. This really had people enjoying the joystick controller, while the raffled Xbox 360s didn't hurt either!

Kidsfest 2010

This was the 3rd year in a row, where Jet Set Studio brought the video gaming element to Children & Families of Iowa's Kidsfest. This weekend event saw 14,885 people and raised over $156,000 for this powerful and influential state charity! Jet Set Studio brought down the house January 2-3, 2010, as we rocked the PRE-GoG 5,000 Party at the Lime Lounge first, then the real party started at Cyber Ops in Ankeny, Iowa. The event got underway at 7:00pm and went ALL-NIGHT, until 7:00am!

MLG Dallas 09

What a weekend we had! Dallas, Texas hosted the 3rd MLG Pro Circuit stop for 2009, on August 28-30th! Last year's MLG event in Dallas marked the first live MLG event where we brought our video game community out to gain exposure, so it was very interesting to see how far we've come and how many great friends we've made within this unique fan base.
MLG Dallas 09 was jam packed with fun, parties, friends, and of course...lots of gaming! We brought 200 awesome GoG Patches (photo below) to share with everyone who is "Fueled By GoG", which provided us a lot of additional exposure for www.GatheringofGamers.com. The GoG also sponsored the hottest room at the Hilton Anatole all weekend, as we hosted some serious LAN parties both nights of the event. In fact, BEN from the GoG even shared highlights from those parties on his GoG Chronicle titled "Party All The Time" that dropped on the event-highlighting profile.

Lutheran Church of Hope

We had the pleasure of managing our first video game event for a church, as we brought the our experienced video game management services to the Lutheran Church of Hope's annual summer event, called Taste of Hope 2009.

Lutheran Church of Hope, located in West Des Moines and made of over 10,000 members, put on quite an event. Along with our video game event, the church also provided food, family activities, and even fireworks both nights of the weekend celebration!
Along with 5 exhibition gaming stations, we brought the house down with 3 huge projection screens that rocked two Xbox 360 stations of Rock Band 2 and one fun station of 4-player Mario Kart Wii.
It was a pleasure working for Lutheran Church of Hope and our company appreciated the opportunity to also share our video game community at the event.
Overall, it was a great weekend and we're looking forward to our next event, which is MLG Dallas, on August 28-30, 2009...see YOU soon.

E3 2009

GatheringofGamers.com was once again represented at E3 2009. This was the second year that our video game community was presented as industry media, so we were excited to experience the event and also share the most recent news with all of our GoG membership!

Along with all the new video game news and hands-on experience with many titles, it's always a unique experience to meet the developing minds and personalities behind the games we all play. Obviously the new Modern Warfare 2 was a game that everyone was looking to get information on, so when BEN had a chance to meet the Producer and 4 developers, that photo and signed copy of CoD4 was pretty neat (see below).

There are so many games at E3, the word overwelming was a key phrase we determined after the first day of action, but that doesn't mean we weren't able to meet tons of great people and get tons of highlights and news from the industry.

E3 2009 was much different than E3 2008, as it seems that the ESA is trying to bring back "E3 of old". The presentations were bigger, the hype was bigger, and the event overall was bigger. This could be seen as great for the gamer in us, but the business opportunity was decreased, because it was harder to get the more intimate connections that were abundant with last year's style of show. Even some booth babes were back...

Our GoG community had expressed some special interest surrounding Halo 3: ODST in the GoG Forum Discussion for E3 2009, so that was a private meeting that was a treat to experience...and then share on the dedicated event profile for this event over on www.GatheringofGamers.com.
With Halo 3: ODST news obviously NOT being even close to all we highlighted on the event profile, other anticipated games such as Project Natal, Facebook/Twitter on the Xbox 360 Dashboard, Mass Effect 2, New Mario Bros Wii, DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5, WET, Brink, Borderlands, Bioshock 2, Final Fantasy XIII, MAG, Batman, Ruse, Saw, Brutal Legend, Heavy Rain, Fat Princess, Splinter Cell Conviction, Tekken 6, Fight Night Round 4, Dead Space Extraction, all the new sports titles, Army of Two: 40 Days, Lego Rockband, Rockband: Beatles, Ninja Gaiden 2, Ghostbusters, Uncharted 2, Forza Motorsports 3, God of War III, Pixel Junk, Tony Hawk Ride, CrimeCraft, The Bigs 2, Mafia 2, Wii Sports Resort, Squeeballs, The Conduit, Darksiders, and hundreds more!!!

One of our groups favorite experiences, was meeting THE voice of Mario, Charles Martinet, who we had a chat with, got a few photos/autographs, and enjoyed his suttle ways of fitting in Mario voices into the conversation :)

MLG Meadowlands 2009

It was a pleasure to be involved with the excitement surround the 2009 MLG season opener! MLG Meadowlands was a huge production and as our video game community continues to grow in popularity within the professional Major League Gaming circles, it was great to not only catch up with top pros from the Winter Wonder LAN, but also to meet tons of new MLG players and fans.

BEN arrived in New Jersey on Friday afternoon and quickly met up with everyone at the Meadowlands Expo Center, where the first day's action had begun. Friday afternoon soon became late into the evening as amatuer and pro teams began the road towards Championship Sunday.

On this first night, we had the chance to organize a unique photo shoot opportunity for Team Foxy. It was fun to see all the girls get together and share such an exciting tournament together, while they showed their support for www.GatheringofGamers.com! After the first day's event, a group went on a techno adventure that was an amazing performance by David Guetta at the Pacha, near Times Square in nearby New York. This was quite the experience and it lasted early into Saturday morning, but after an hour of sleep, it was time for day 2 of the MLG event.

Day two at MLG Meadowlands is when the losers go home and the winners start getting excited about the opportunity to move onto Championship Sunday. Games of Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 last all day long and with that much gaming action, any gamer would be in heaven!

After such an intesnse Friday night, Saturday night was a time for many to party with old and new friends, but for us it meant rest. Championship Sunday came around and we all enjoyed watching our friends on the top pro teams fight their way through the brackets. This was also an exciting day, as BEN was able to continue discussions with the MLG organization, as they discuss a continued effort to connect the GoG and MLG communities, so look for more development on that front over on the Jet Set Studio Company Blog.

There were many teams we had hoped for a better showing, but Triggers Down has GoG members and friends on the team, so when they took the championship, it was exciting and deserving.

This was yet another exciting video game event that our video game community has been excited to be a part of and with the MLG Sponsorship Contest being held on www.GatheringofGamers.com, the upcoming MLG Columbus can't come too soon!

We're excited to announce the next big video game tournament in Iowa!

The GoG 2v2 Halo 3 & Guitar Hero Tournament will be March 21st, 2009. The video game event will be hosted at Cyber Ops Gaming Center in Ankeny, Iowa. We'll be offering 2 unique division for this event, which will be a 2v2 Halo 3 Division (using MLG Rules/Settings) and a Guitar Hero: World Tour Division. The doors will open at 9:00am sharp, and the event will start at 10:00am.

We will have a participation limitation and all registrations will be done through the GoG Tournament Registration Tool. Registration payments will be secured through PayPal, after the registration form has been completed.

We're excited to attend and help develop the Guitar Hero element at the upcoming Research In Motion evening event, at Disney World's Yacht & Beach Club this month!

They also have the Blackberry and with all their new technology that's been releasing lately, it is making me want to get one of their smart phones! This is a casual evening of fun, food, entertainment, and Plastic Rockstars! Research In Motion hosts the event in connection with IBM's Lotusphere 2009, so we're very excited to share our video game event management services with such a great crowd and soon to be friends. The IBM Lotusphere is held at Disney's Swan and Dolphin hotel, which is pictured under the Lotusphere banner, which is such a cool place!

Massive Inc. Event in New York City

With our professional video game event management services, Jet Set Studio has been hired to help run a client event for a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft company, Massive Inc., in New York City's Times Square!

This one night event will be a chance for Massive Inc. to connect and network with their clients, while being entertained by a gaming tournament element consisting of Guitar Hero 4 (World Tour) and NFL Madden 09 on the Xbox 360.

An initial site visit was conducted October 10th, where we considered a few different places such as ESPN Zone, Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe, and Spotlight Live, for the exciting event to be held in Times Square. The event is November 5th, 2008 and we'll have highlights from that and news surrounding the event as we get closer.

We will be taking the same team that we used for Microsoft's Tech-Ed 2008 in Orlando, Florida and we're excited to take our company, its services, and our growing social network for gamers to downtown New York's famous Times Square! Here are some photos from the initial site visit...

With one of the most important video game and digital technology conventions of the year, we were excited to be a part of the 2008 E3 Media & Business Summit in Los Angeles, California!

Along with being on the main floor of this Media & Business Summit, we networked with the big players within the gaming industry throughout each companies private rooms. This is where each company shared what's to come in the next year. We reported all the action and big news, got the chance to share GatheringofGamers.com with some great people, and network with companies about our video game event management services.

All the coverage was presented on GatheringofGamers.com throughout the event, as we highlight a specific E3 GoG profile and loaded it up with photos, podcast interviews, videos, links, and Chronicles throughout the event!

Microsoft Tech-Ed 2008 was held in Orlando, Florida and Jet Set Studio was there to run the video gaming event for Brocade. Our team put on a two gaming station show and enjoyed Guitar Hero 3 all week long.

Besides all the great swag that Brocade was giving away, we also awarded 2 big prizes for the top scores in a Medium and Expert division. Each day the song changed and each day we had new winners taking home a new copy of the new Guitar Hero: Aerosmith video game for the Medium division and a brand new Xbox 360 for the Expert division!

People flocked to the event's Platinum Partner, Brocade's booth, for their chance to take home some great prizes, but also to hear about Brocade's amazing new data and file management technology.

We also had a great chance to network with other companies such as HP, Symantec, Intel, and Dell...who saw the type of traffic we're able to bring with our video game event management services!

GoG March Madness Tournament Highlights

We saw some close games(and some blowouts), as we played out this exciting GoG March Madness Tournament at Bostons Restaurant and Sports Bar in West Des Moines, Iowa. With FREE registration and some great prizes like a Xbox 360, the EA Sport March Madness game, and GoG Gear up for grabs, we had a great turnout and alot of college basketball action!

Congratulations to Alex Bulke(Georgetown) and Jordan Crane(Texas), as they competed and won 1st & 2nd place in The GoG March Madness Xbox Tournament!

By taking 1st place, Alex was awarded the Xbox 360 with a GoG Skin, while Jordan took home the EA Sports game and a GoG shirt for 2nd place.

Overall, it was a fun event and we had some exciting college basketball games to enjoy, great food to eat, huge prizes for the size of the event, and we'll be preparing for the next event from Gathering of Gamers...

GoG March Madness Tournament

The next big video gaming event that www.GatheringofGamers.com is hosting, will be at Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar in Clive, Iowa! This event will surround the 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. All the tournament basketball games will be at this exciting sports bar scene, while we also hold an exciting video game tournament, eat some great food, and drink some beers to celebrate the event. The video game tournament will be single elimination and will be EA Sports March Madness 08.

We're going to offer FREE REGISTRATION and still give away a XBOX 360 for 1st Place and a free copy of the EA Sports March Madness 08 game for 2nd Place! We'll also have GoG Gear at the event and throw in some of that gear for prizes as well.

KidsFest Highlights

With almost 14,000 people at this year's Children's and Families of Iowa's KidsFest, we were very excited to see almost of all them check out the Gathering of Gamers area. We had one of the largest productions at the event and it was all devoted to video gaming!

We saw a ton of new GoG members of all ages join us and we enjoyed playing a wide range of video games on our 9 gaming stations at the video game event. People of all ages were interested in this video game community and we had a great time spreading the word.

We also held a small Guitar Hero 3 Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The announcement went over the loud speakers and people came flocking to join the free event for kids UNDER 17. We had around 25 rockstars compete and a special congratulations goes out to Jack Lepic, who won the tournament! He then proceeded to challenge the winner from The GoG IMAX Tournament and was able to see what he had to work towards, as RyuBlitz beat him by around 100K points :)

A special thanks to BEN, Andy, codeh4x0r, Mersad, RyuBlitz, Othersider, Jodie, and Hax9000 for their support as GoG Staff at the event! With that many gamers rolling through our gaming area, it was great to have some awesome help from this core group of gamers. They helped keep lines moving and taught new comers how to play the games.

HUGE Video Game Tournament Success!

With The Inaugural Gathering of Gamers IMAX Tournament in the books, we'd like to look back and thank all the gamers and spectators who made this event such a huge success! The event was held all day February 16th, 2008 at the Science Center of Iowa in Des Moines, Iowa. We had over 190 participants throughout 4 separate divisions and over 400 people at the video game tournament event. The divisions were:

4v4 Halo 3
Guitar Hero 3 (REC) - which was played on Medium
Guitar Hero 3 (COMP) - which was played on Expert
Madden NFL 08

Each division had tons of excitement! 4v4 Halo teams were battling all day(photo below), while Madden NFL 08 players were playing in some hard hitting football games as well. The two Guitar Hero 3 divisions was actually more like a rock concert that highlight each of the players, because with 3 guest judges giving a Style Bonus, participants could earn an extra 20%(REC) or 10%(COMP) multiplier which was sometimes the difference between a win or a loss. It also added alot of rock star action, as we saw behind the head guitars, no look playing, laying down, kids beating adults, and so much more!

Double Elimination meant we had 400 games to complete throughout the day, but seeing the final rounds in the full beauty of the IMAX theater (above photo) was well worth the wait!

With The Inaugural Gathering of Gamers IMAX Tournament being held next month, February 16th, and the registration opening tonight at the GoG/SCI Video Gaming Event, here is the structure and rules for this upcoming and exciting video game event...

General Rules:
All players must be registered before the tournament begins. Late entries on the day of the event may be allowed, based on current event occupancy. Contact the SCI for more information on registration dates.

All player/team rosters are final at the start of the first match.

Personal gaming equipment may be used during game play, as long as it does not interfere with the match. Tournament staff will have the final say on any disputes.

This event is structured for fun and although it may become competitive, there will be no explicit trash talking, intimidations, or taunting. Any player/team determined to be doing so will first be warned and if it continues, they will be removed from the event.

Spectators are encouraged to watch, coach, cheer, and interact with the players during any ranked match, but there should be no interference with either of the players or within the gaming stations. Players, coaches, and spectators are expected to act in the nature of good sportsmanship at all times.

Gaming stations will be all around the Science Center of Iowa’s facility. The morning rounds will be in the Star Theater and at different areas of the SCI. The afternoon/final rounds will be held in the Blank IMAX Theater. Spectators and eliminated players/teams are encouraged to stay for the final rounds and enjoy gaming on the big screen. The registration or entrance fee will cover your admission into the final IMAX rounds. The main headquarters area can answer questions about where a gaming station is located, scoring, or when a game is scheduled.

Exhibition gaming stations will be available for your enjoyment. All spectators, eliminated participants, or people waiting for their next ranked match are encouraged to enjoy these gaming stations provided by Jet Set Studio and GatheringofGamers.com.

A forfeit shall be scored if a player/team does not show up 10 minutes after the scheduled start time.

There will be no protest and all decisions made by the Tournament Directors are final.

1^st and 2^nd place will be awarded in each division.

By attending this event, each person authorizes Jet Set Studio and the Science Center of Iowa to film, record and/or take photographs during the entire event, and may use the resulting footage, recordings or photographs for a range of purposes, including, without limitation, for marketing and promoting the organization’s products, website community, and services. Each attendee also authorizes Jet Set Studio and the Science Center of Iowa to film, record and/or photograph his or her voice and likeness, and also grants the irrevocable right to use any footage, recordings or photographs taken during the event in any manner and medium throughout the world, an unlimited number of times in perpetuity for advertising, trade, promotion, exhibition or any other lawful purpose except where prohibited by law.

The Tournament Directors reserves the right to delay, reschedule, shorten, or cancel games or divisions due to dangerous weather or lack of participants in a division.

Situations or occurrences that these rules do not address shall be left to the sole discretion of the tournament staff.

The General Rules apply to all divisions.

Division 1: Guitar Hero 3 (REC)
Tournament structure will be bracketed rounds, Double Elimination.

Games will be played on MEDIUM skill level.

Xbox 360 will be the system for this division.

2 players will compete against each other in each match, using the “Pro Face Off” format, so each player plays the same notes. The winner of each match will advance to the next round. The loser will drop into the loser’s bracket or be eliminated from the event if it is their 2^nd loss.

There will be 3 guest judges, who will score the performances on style and creativity. Each judge will determine the best performance and have a single vote to cast. The majority winner, out of the 3 judge’s votes, will receive a 20% bonus multiplier to be added to their final score. The guest judges will be provided by the tournament staff and can be altered, added to, or changed at anytime. We are encouraging the judges to be very energetic, entertaining, and give reasoning for their votes.

Songs will be chosen randomly. After a song is played in one round, it will not be available for play until the next round.

Scores and winners will be reported by a Gathering of Gamers Official.

The guest judges will be provided by the tournament staff and can be altered, added to, or changed at anytime. We are encouraging the judges to be very energetic, entertaining, and give reasoning for their votes.

Songs will be chosen randomly. After a song is played in one round, it will not be available for play until the next round.

Scores and winners will be reported by a Gathering of Gamers Official.

A brief period of 2 minutes will be allowed to setup a player’s specific team structure or audible. The Gathering of Gamers official will get the game started after this setup period.

4 five minute quarters will be the format for all games throughout the entire event. In case of a tie, an additional five minute quarter will be played. The first player to score during this overtime will win the match.

Tournament structure will be bracketed rounds, Double Elimination.

Xbox 360 will be the system for this division.

Map will be chosen randomly by tournament staff, from the list of maps available in each round.

All rounds will consist of best 2 out of 3 matches. In the event of a tie game, the match will be replayed. Game structure will be on standard map pack types and will be as follows:

Once again, we're excited to announce that we will have the Star Theater jamming with Guitar Hero III, to highlight this newly released masterpiece! There will be 2 more monthly events of exhibition gaming nights at the Science Center of Iowa, located in downtown Des Moines, that will lead to a February 9th GoG IMAX tournament in the IMAX theater of Iowa! This will be gaming on the big stage, with titles set to be Halo 3, Guitar Hero 3, and Madden 08! Registration will begin January 1st, so get ready!

Guitar Hero Rocked!

After last October's Halo 3 action, November 15 was the latest GoG/SCI Video Gaming Event! GatheringofGamers.com once again put on a great show as they highlighted Guitar Hero 3, in the 50ft. Star Theater and saw close to 350 people join the fun!! Video gamers of all ages jammed with their friends or conducted the computerized light shows, in this awesome rock star environment. We had 6 other Xbox 360, Wii, and PS3 game stations throughout the "Why The Sky" Exhibition Hall as well!

Thanks to all who joined us and the new comers that we hope will be back next time! We hope you'll bring your family and all your crew to the next Gathering of Gamers Event and we're excited to see everyone again soon. Don't forget, there are only two more exhibitions left, until the big GoG IMAX Tournament, Febraury 9th, 2008!

Best Buy's Guitar Hero 3 Release Party

The GoG and Science Center of Iowa will be at the Best Buy in Jordan Creek on Saturday, October 27, from 8pm-12am, to celebrate the newly released Guitar Hero 3! Best Buy will be having free video game tournaments and open GH3 exhibitions throughout the night, then open their doors at midnight, for everyone to get the first copies of Guitar Hero 3!

After a very successful and fun GoG event at the Science Center of Iowa in September & October, we have dates for November's GoG/SCI Video Gaming Event. It will be held Thursday, November 15th, from 6-8pm.

This month, we're excited to announce that we will have the Star Theater jamming with Guitar Hero III, to highlight this newly released masterpiece! We plan to have the concert hall (Star Theater) setup for everyone to experience Guitar Hero 3 like you've never seen it before! Come and enjoy the gaming action, but experience something new by running your own light and fog show!

I've never played Halo on such an intense stage. After a very successful and fun Gathering of Gamers event in September, join us for an even bigger and better event October 11, from 6-8pm at the Science Center of Iowa in downtown Des Moines!

We’re excited to announce that we’ll have the 50 ft. dome Star Theater hooked up for HALO 3! We’ll be networking an 8-person battleground for everyone to experience Halo 3 like you've never seen it before! Come on your own, bring a 4 person team or even your whole clan, and get ready for some life sized gaming action.There will be signs to warn players (and parents) that this game is rated M, but don't worry, the Space Room (outside of the Star Theater), will also be bigger and better this month! We're doubling the amount of gaming stations we'll have available, with more Guitar Hero 2, Wii Sports, Madden 08, and many more!

The Venue

Tonight we had the opportunity to go out and visit The Venue, for their weekly gaming night. We rocked some 8 person Halo and Wii sports, on some nice 16 foot screens. With pizza and some other games available, this first time event is sure to grow in size and popularity. The Venue has plenty of space to grow and a nice bar/rave setting that may also be used as they gain popularity. The location is a bit far away from Des Moines(35 minute drive), but seems to be easily reachable by the Iowa State and Ames crowd.

All the gamers that were there will be joining the The GoG this week!
